GATE VALVES AND COMPRESSION FITTINGS

Gate valves and compression fittings are essential components used in plumbing and fluid control systems.

Gate Valves: Gate valves are used to control the flow of fluid through a pipe by raising or lowering a gate (a metal disc) inside the valve body. When the gate is raised, the valve is fully open, allowing unrestricted flow. Conversely, lowering the gate closes the valve, stopping the flow completely. Gate valves are commonly used in applications where a full flow is required, and they offer low resistance to fluid flow when fully open. However, they are not suitable for regulating flow because they are designed to be either fully open or fully closed.

Compression Fittings: Compression fittings are used to join pipes or tubing in plumbing and fluid systems. They consist of a compression nut, a compression ring (also known as a ferrule), and a body that holds the ring and nut in place. To make a connection, the nut is tightened, compressing the ring around the pipe or tubing and creating a watertight seal. Compression fittings are easy to install and do not require soldering or welding, making them ideal for DIY plumbing projects and repairs. They are commonly used with copper, PVC, and other types of pipes and tubing.
