Tractile Paving

Tractile paving, also known as tactile paving or tactile ground surface indicators (TGSIs), refers to a specialized type of paving designed to provide tactile cues and guidance for individuals with visual impairments or disabilities. Tractile paving consists of a series of raised patterns or textured surfaces that can be felt underfoot or with a mobility aid, such as a cane or wheelchair. These tactile indicators help individuals navigate and identify changes in the environment, such as pedestrian crossings, railway platforms, stairs, ramps, or other potential hazards. 

The patterns and textures of tractile paving are standardized and often include features such as raised dots, bars, or blister patterns, which have specific meanings and serve as directional cues.
